I do like these pants. Big pockets, watch/coin pocket, seam construction seems solid so far. Wore and rode in them every day for a month, still in one piece, and for me that says a lot.
I did rip the lining the first time I squatted, but that was alright. I was planning to remove the lining anyways. Personal preference. Without the lining though, be prepared to minor color "bleeding" either to your person or underwear.
They are relaxed plenty enough if you pull them up to your waist, providing ample movement. If you have really skinny legs, and ride a bike with knees sticking out and/or legs forward, be prepared to some minor flapping in the wind. I chose my "true" waist size, fits good. And can still fit long-johns or two under when the weather gets cold.
If you drop them to your hip, here comes the fashionable baggy leather pants. They are heavy, so if baggy pants with the crotch down your knee is not your style, get a sturdy belt.
The heavy leather feels good if your main form of transportation is a motorcycle. Feels solid, feels like you might still have your own skin left on your legs the next time someone in a cage knocks you off your bike. I also waterproofed mine with mink oil. If you ride anywhere but dry desert climates, I suggest you do the same thing. The first time you hit a rain storm more than 5 miles from home will make the trouble worth it.
Should you wear leather pants for fashion, these might just be a little too heavy, especially for warmer climates. If you usually wear pajama pants and flipflops, I suspect these will be too heavy for you in any case, stick to pajama pants.
If I ever destroy mine, I just might have to buy another pair, as long as they do not jack the price up much: I do like the pants, but I do not like them that much that I would spend two hundred on them.
...
Edit: Single seam at the crotch started unraveling. Easy to fix as I already took the liner off, would have been a slight pain with the liner still in place. Remove a star for each hassle. Still kept me reasonably cozy with long-johns the last few mornings when it dropped to around 40 degrees F, about 45 miles from a to b, knees in the wind.
Edit1: I ended fixing the corner of the coin/watch pocket and one of the back pockets. Started unraveling under use, as I get my rag out every time I fill the tank and guess where my gas cash is... Leather is still without rips, but I have lost my faith on the thread they used to sow these pants together. I am tempted to put some rivets on few strategic locations too. But I am putting a lot of work to these pants and they are not quite that old yet. Bummer... Down to two stars. |
